Title: Dai Tomsa appointed Mini Section Development Manager.
Write Up: Blackwood RFC are reviewing their rugby development strategy to ensure that they advance their community based approach with an emphasis on developing rugby and broadening the opportunities for all age groups and their volunteers.

Much is already in place but is being refined. It's a large task very dependant on the hard work of many volunteers as well as the committee, officers of the club and of course the developing players.

Blackwood are engaging a bottom up approach and have just appointed Dai Tomsa as the Mini Section Development Manager. Dai is a former player of the club and is assisted by a number of enthusiastic and committed volunteers. Dai played 227 first team games for the club and whilst known for his defensive qualities as a fine back row player managed to score 19 tries for the club. Dai is the youngest of four brothers who all represented the club and played well over 600 games between them. Dai has now turned his hand to coaching and organising the youngsters that the club see as their future. Dai says' that he is very encouraged by the talent that is coming up through the ranks' and has an extremely capable team of volunteers that he says 'makes his job a pleasure'.

Keith Stock the club Chairman together with Cris Davies from the rugby sub committee and Roger Moore the clubs Director of Rugby met with the Mini section and parents of the players recently. Keith was able to see the enthusiasm of the group and said 'that the club see the appointment of Dai and the developing minis structure as a blueprint for age group rugby within the club'.
